You are kindly invited to the opening of the exhibition, which will take place on Monday, 15 December 2025, at 7 pm in the DESSA Gallery.
The opening will be followed by the traditional DESSA New Year's gathering. Chèf Borut Jovan, who has been delighting our taste buds for the past twelve years at the Piran Days of Architecture, will once again be providing the catering, while the talented young singer Iva Klinar will be entertaining us with her singing.
The exhibition Case Study: Graphic Design for Architecture 2005-2025 presents an analytical overview of a segment of the creative oeuvre of visual artist and graphic designer Ivan Ilić - a work dedicated to graphic design for architecture in the period between 2005 and 2025.
This is an area where graphic design does not function as a support service, but as an integral part of architectural culture, as a communication interface between architects, clients, institutions, the professional public and users of space. The selection includes visual identities of architectural offices, project graphic images for institutions in the field of architecture, the design of exhibition materials and editorial-graphic solutions for architectural publications. All of this provides insight into a specific area within Ilić's design and artistic work from the 1990s onwards.
Ivan Ilić (1968) studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade and at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, under Prof. Jannis Kunellis. He has exhibited in more than 200 group and solo exhibitions of contemporary art and graphic design, both in the former Yugoslavia and Slovenia, as well as elsewhere in the world. With his innovative creative approaches, he has established himself as one of the most prominent representatives of contemporary Slovenian fine art and graphic design. With his professionalism and the application of the highest creative standards, he significantly contributes to raising the general level of visual culture in Slovenia.
Iva Klinar (2004) is a student of international economics. She has been involved in music since childhood, playing the flute, then the piano, and in recent years she has been devoted to singing under the mentorship of Rebeka Bogataj. She is particularly interested in jazz, soul, and Latin genres. She has gained experience in public performing in Slovenia and Paris.
Borut Jovan (1985) is a top chef who trained in Slovenia and at prestigious restaurants abroad. He respects the cuisine of his grandmothers and shows his love of nature through his culinary masterpieces and his own brand of products, Heartmade.
