You are cordially invited to the opening of the exhibition Towards new learning spaces, which will take place on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 7 p.m. at DESSA Gallery.
The exhibition raises questions about the design and layout of 21st-century learning spaces by reviewing the development of the basic spatial unit of a school building—the classroom. Using selected examples of school buildings from different periods, it shows the relationship between changes in the school system and considerations regarding the design of learning spaces. Each period seeks original solutions for the transition from old to new learning spaces. Today, primary school buildings are once again facing major challenges. Uniform classrooms, traditionally designed for frontal teaching, are being replaced by clusters of diverse and flexible learning spaces, versatile communication and collaboration, and innovative pedagogical approaches. Are we moving from classrooms to learning landscapes?
The exhibition was created in collaboration with the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Architecture, under the mentorship of Mitja Zorc and Mojca Gregorski.
