The exhibition The Power of Youth: Young Architects in the Space of Stage Scenography, will be on display at the 61. Maribor Theatre Festival, from 8 to 21 June 2026. You are kindly invited to the opening of the exhibition, which will be held on Monday, 8 June 2026, at 7 p.m. in the the Foyer of Kazina Hall of SNG Maribor.
As part of the exhibition, the Foyer of Kazina Hall will host the discussion evening with invited scenographers on Monday, 15 June 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
The exhibition explores the creative process of shaping the stage space and the invisible side of the technical solution as seen and developed by architects of the younger generation who work in the field of set design. Although, in the theatre, actors and directors are in the front, in the backstage, set designers and technical experts design the key spatial requirements in which stage stories can grow.
Through the works of eleven young architects, the exhibition reveals different approaches to understanding the space, materiality and dramaturgy of the stage and the procedures used to create theatre worlds. The presented creators are active in Slovenia and internationally, in drama and puppet theatre, opera, contemporary dance and ballet. Their works narrate how the stage becomes a space of experiment, adaptability and exploration of relationships between space, body and story.
